Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Canadian Nurse Codex (“this site,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you visit. This site is a free, independently maintained educational resource for internationally educated nurses navigating Canadian licensure. We are committed to protecting your privacy and collecting as little information as possible to do that.
Information we collect
This site does not require an account or login to use. We do not ask you to create a profile, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or other personal information through the site itself unless you choose to contact us directly.
The site includes a saved-notes feature. Any notes you write are stored locally in your own browser, on your own device. They are not transmitted to us, not stored on a server, and not visible to anyone else. Clearing your browser data will delete them.
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information (such as browser type or approximate location derived from IP address) for security and performance purposes. This is standard server activity, not information we actively collect or use to identify you personally.
The community board (chalkboard wall)
The homepage has a public “board” where anyone can leave a short, anonymous note. There is no account, name, or email field. Notes publish immediately and are visible to everyone. Automated filters block links and contact details (and reject notes that appear to contain an email address, phone number, or reference number) before a note is published, but no automated system is perfect — so please do not include your name, contact details, or any application or reference numbers. We store only the text of the note and the time it was posted. We do not store anything identifying you alongside a note. A hashed form of your IP address is used briefly, and separately, only to limit how many notes can be posted from one connection in an hour; it is not stored with note content.
Page feedback (“Chart this page”)
At the bottom of each guide page you can rate the page with one click. We record only which page was rated, which of the four responses you chose, and the time — and, if you choose to add a comment when reporting a factual error, that comment (run through the same filters as the board). We do not record anything about who clicked: no IP address, no cookie, no session, and no device fingerprint.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not use cookies for advertising or tracking, and sets no tracking cookie of its own. We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to count page views. GoatCounter is cookieless: it sets no cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not track you across other websites. If our analytics provider ever changes, this policy will be updated to name the new one.
Links to other websites
This site links out to official government, regulatory, and union websites (such as provincial nursing colleges, NNAS, and health authority job boards) so you can complete real applications and find current official information. Once you leave this site, that organization's own privacy policy applies, not ours. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any external site before providing information to it.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for adults navigating professional licensure and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date below reflects the most recent update.
