I'm the person behind this site, and I went through this whole process myself, not that long ago. Here's the actual timeline, no polish, so you can see what it really looked like.
-
August 2019
Moved to Canada to start a Master of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan.
-
May 2020
Started working as a PSW with Bayshore, alongside the MN. Also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant on campus during this time.
-
February 2021
Started the NNAS application.
-
April 2021
Completed the MN.
-
June to December 2021
Switched from PSW to CCA under the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
-
Around December 2021
Got the NNAS report back: Somewhat Comparable.
-
Researched provinces and chose Ontario. Self-guided through the entire CNO process, with no site like this one to shortcut it.
-
December 2021
CNO gave permission to write the LPN exam first, while RN eligibility was still being determined. Cleared the CPNRE and held an active LPN license while waiting.
-
January 2022
RN eligibility came through from CNO. Quit the CCA job and stayed home to prep for NCLEX-RN full time.
-
UWorld's practice assessment gave a low predicted chance of passing. Wrote the exam anyway.
-
February 2022
Passed the NCLEX-RN at 185 questions, and applied for the RN license through CNO.
-
Transferred the license from CNO to CRNS, moving the registration from Ontario to Saskatchewan.
-
Worked in Medicine at Royal University Hospital, and as a paediatric RN in home care with Bayshore, for medically complex kids.
-
2026
Accepted into the NSWOC program, starting a specialized path in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing.
Somewhat Comparable isn't a rejection — I'm proof of that. Neither is a low predicted passing score; I wrote NCLEX anyway and cleared it. Neither is working full time while you study, or not knowing anyone who's done this before you. It's a long road, but it's a walkable one. That's the whole reason this site exists — so the next person doesn't have to figure out every step alone the way I did.
