Accessibility Statement
Our commitment
Canadian Nurse Codex is built to be usable by as many people as possible, including people navigating an unfamiliar country, an unfamiliar healthcare system, and in some cases an unfamiliar language, often while managing real stress. Accessibility is treated as a core requirement of this site, not an afterthought.
Standard we aim to meet
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is a widely recognized standard for making web content usable by people with a range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive differences.
What this looks like in practice
Concretely, this means:
- Content is built with proper semantic structure, so screen readers can navigate it accurately.
- Text and background colours meet minimum contrast requirements.
- The site can be fully navigated using a keyboard alone, without a mouse.
- Images include descriptive alternative text.
- Interactive elements, such as the province lookup and the sticky notes feature, are operable and clearly labelled for assistive technology.
Known limitations
We are not aware of any current accessibility barriers on this site. If you encounter one, we want to know — see the feedback section below.
